Buxom Mascara

Every now and then you come across something you are just crazy for.....enter Buxom mascara...now I have seen this around for a little while and read all the great reviews and you know I just had to give it a try. Well am I happy I did because this is one great mascara! Why you ask?..for starters it doesn't clump at all and I really like the big brush. It also just goes on really smoothly and that seems to be so hard to find in a mascara.  I personally feel that mascara is really an individual thing, but I just don't think you could be disappointed with this one. Its also a great mid priced mascara for $18. You can order it online at Sephora.com and here is the right up from their web site....

What it does:  Bare Escentuals Buxom® Lash Mascara - Blackest Black holds the style of your lashes for a continuous 12 hours with no flakiness. The silky, vitamin-rich formula darkens, lengthens, and thickens from root to tip without ever clumping. Its patented, hourglass-shaped brush is designed to lift and separate every lash while delivering the perfect amount of antioxidant-rich mascara needed for bigger, fuller lashes.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens

Steamcream

I found this cream online called Steamcream and thought what the hell I'll try it...well their customer service is AMAZING and the shipping is lightening fast...now that I got that out of the way let's get to the cream itself. They come in the cutest little tins that once the cream is gone you can use them for a whole bunch of things. Cool Huh? I bought the British flag looking one and its the perfect size to put in your purse, car or in your carry on bag while you are traveling. The cream has a nice fresh lavender scent and certainly makes your hands feel smooth and soft.
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a full steam ahead 4 stars!

Traverse City Girls Getaway...or Glamping

I call this my version of "Glamping" that's glamours and camping, for you newbies. I turned 41 in January and decided to usher in my birthday with four girlfriends at a beautiful log cabin in Traverse City.  I know I am sounding terribly spoiled....but after I pull out that very old silver spoon from my mouth I will use my favorite line...."Don't judge me"....yes... I will be the first to admit that I am not some minimalist, get in touch with nature, kind of girl.  My idea of communing with nature is rolling down the window of the air-conditioned SUV and looking at the woods.... NOT getting out and walking through them, for Gods sake . So, with that in mind we rented a beautiful log cabin in Traverse City, MI.  Now, when I say beautiful I mean home and garden magazine, crazy, beautiful, champagne wishes and caviar dreams, freaking beautiful. This place was log cabin heaven and listen... I'm a tough sell... refer back to the silver spoon reference.  We had a million dollar view and the house to match. Now, mix that with my best girlfriends and it was a slice of heaven.  Before you all go on hating me too much, it was also...wait for it....affordable..GASP.... yes, I mean it.  With all the beautiful places to travel it really isn't inexpensive for people to go to a slice of heaven with a million dollar view, now is it? We had a private chef, Shannon from Chow Bella Catering, come in and deliver us four days worth of meals that was so much food we had two days worth of meals when we came home.  She made us four appetizers, crepes with fresh strawberry compote, salmon and asparagus, chicken in a mustard Dijon sauce and risotto, lasagna that would make Rachel Ray weep and of course a beautiful butter cream birthday cake. Ohhhh, I need to un-button my pants just typing that! Shannon did such an amazing job! Thank you Shannon! For the four days with five people, including food, we each spent $350 total.  Now, that doesn't include the liquor but that was only about $5 a piece....Tee hee.  Now, you can't beat that!  Dennis, who owns this beautiful log cabin of perfection, was so kind and helpful with all of our questions and had stacks of wood for our roaring fireplace.  He has, with his wife, decorated each inch of the cabin with the most unique antiques and cabinesque items that they have collected over the years. There is two fully restored wood canoes hanging from the ceiling, one with Christmas lights meticulously placed to define the outline of the canoe.  He has everything from antique radios to a large model seaplane perched in the upper loft.  Every detail has been seen to with to die for design flare. So, next time you think about getting away, go check out home away.com, look up your little slice of luxury and load up your BFF's for a little communing with nature.  Or if you are near Michigan, call up my friend Dennis and pull up an Adirondack chair and glass of chardonnay and wave at nature for me.
Chin-chin nature!
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a five shining silver spoons...yay Glamping!

Fresh Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15

Once again this is my second disappointment with Fresh first the lemon pledge disguised as a perfume and now the tinted lip balm....gosh what's up with you Fresh? I mean after the Lichee bath cubes did you decided to just give up? This is nothing more than a pretty packaged Burt's Bees coloured lip balm...Sorry Burt..but really that would be fine if it wasn't a whopping $23.62....oh yea crazy huh. Now if you have tried this product and love it than please tell me what makes it so special because truly I want to love Fresh again but for now I think I need to break up with them. So Fresh.." it's not you, it's me. I hope we can be friends someday...stop crying Fresh you'll meet a nice girl one day."
So for my Ask Aimee Review I give it "I'm dumping your ass" zero stars

Dior Vernis Gris Montaigne

This is my first time trying Dior polish and I'm hooked. Now to be honest it's thick and that takes some getting used to but it looks like perfection on your nails and has a pretty good lasting time considering I have natural nails and everything chips after a few days. The colour is to die for and everyone keeps asking what it is!That usually doesn't happen with your average nail polish BUT this isn't average darling it's Dior....
So for my ask Aimee Review I give this a delightful Dior four stars because it's beautiful but it is expensive but a great splurge!

Pro Hair Tinsel

I was watching Oprah the other day and she was interviewing a previous guest and I kept noticing that the woman she was talking to had hair that was kind of sparkly....was it spray on glitter....was it my eyes playing tricks on me....I kept watching and looking but I couldn't figure out what was in her hair dammit..... Then at the end Oprah asked her what was in her hair....thank you Oprah! She said it was her company Hair Flairs. So on my iPad I went and looked it up and discovered that they are thin strands of tinsel that you tie into your hair that come in gold, silver and a whole lot of other colors.....Well, of course, you know it... I ordered the gold and purple ones for my daughter. They are $10 for a package of 100 strands of tinsel... hee hee... it kinda makes me laugh when I say it...Anyway, I have to say, I had problems with them falling out at first until I realized that I needed to knot the hair and the tinsel together or something like that. I guess I'm not as smart as I think I am if I'm outsmarted by hair tinsel, for goodness sake... Damn you, hair tinsel...dramatic pause.....OK.  I did figure it out and my daughter who is on a sports team with purple as their team colours looks so cute with them in her hair! Now I feel I might be pushing it being forty with tinsel in my hair... but I put one gold one in my hair (now that I 'm blond again)....but I think it looks really cool! Or am I just a old chick that thinks she looks cool....mmmm that's the question. Well until some young whipper snapper comes up to me and says "hey cool hair tinsel old lady!" I will just leave it in.
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a sparkling four stars.

Fresh Sugar Lemon - 0.34 oz Eau de Parfum Roll-On

There is really nothing better than seeing the UPS man driving up my driveway.... really he's like my version of Santa Claus! My husband has a fit and I am purely giddy with anticipation, pulling open my package like a six year old on Christmas morning. A package from Sephora.... well, that's just a slice of heaven! So, as I am pulling out my latest buys, I grab my Fresh Lemon Sugar Roll On Perfume that I had bought on a whim... Shocker, I know but remember don't judge me! Now I have really liked some of the Fresh products that I have tried before...the Lychee bath cubes are amazing, by the way..... So needless to say I had nothing but high hopes for this perfume, but as I rolled this new scent over my wrist all I could think was "crap!" I just spent $22 on lemon pledge! and a funky uglier stepsister version of lemon pledge at that! Now it sits in its coffin, I mean box on my dining room table or as I like to refer to it  "The graveyard of NEEDS to be returned".....I  really hate returning stuff... ugh boring!
So if you are interested in smelling like a lemon, save your money and rub some lemon pledge on yourself and you can be Cinderella to the ugly stepsister Sugar Lemon by Fresh....
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a sour smelling zero stars.
