Buxom Mascara

Every now and then you come across something you are just crazy for.....enter Buxom mascara...now I have seen this around for a little while and read all the great reviews and you know I just had to give it a try. Well am I happy I did because this is one great mascara! Why you ask?..for starters it doesn't clump at all and I really like the big brush. It also just goes on really smoothly and that seems to be so hard to find in a mascara.  I personally feel that mascara is really an individual thing, but I just don't think you could be disappointed with this one. Its also a great mid priced mascara for $18. You can order it online at Sephora.com and here is the right up from their web site....

What it does:  Bare Escentuals Buxom® Lash Mascara - Blackest Black holds the style of your lashes for a continuous 12 hours with no flakiness. The silky, vitamin-rich formula darkens, lengthens, and thickens from root to tip without ever clumping. Its patented, hourglass-shaped brush is designed to lift and separate every lash while delivering the perfect amount of antioxidant-rich mascara needed for bigger, fuller lashes.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates

Steamcream

I found this cream online called Steamcream and thought what the hell I'll try it...well their customer service is AMAZING and the shipping is lightening fast...now that I got that out of the way let's get to the cream itself. They come in the cutest little tins that once the cream is gone you can use them for a whole bunch of things. Cool Huh? I bought the British flag looking one and its the perfect size to put in your purse, car or in your carry on bag while you are traveling. The cream has a nice fresh lavender scent and certainly makes your hands feel smooth and soft.
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a full steam ahead 4 stars!

Traverse City Girls Getaway...or Glamping

I call this my version of "Glamping" that's glamours and camping, for you newbies. I turned 41 in January and decided to usher in my birthday with four girlfriends at a beautiful log cabin in Traverse City.  I know I am sounding terribly spoiled....but after I pull out that very old silver spoon from my mouth I will use my favorite line...."Don't judge me"....yes... I will be the first to admit that I am not some minimalist, get in touch with nature, kind of girl.  My idea of communing with nature is rolling down the window of the air-conditioned SUV and looking at the woods.... NOT getting out and walking through them, for Gods sake . So, with that in mind we rented a beautiful log cabin in Traverse City, MI.  Now, when I say beautiful I mean home and garden magazine, crazy, beautiful, champagne wishes and caviar dreams, freaking beautiful. This place was log cabin heaven and listen... I'm a tough sell... refer back to the silver spoon reference.  We had a million dollar view and the house to match. Now, mix that with my best girlfriends and it was a slice of heaven.  Before you all go on hating me too much, it was also...wait for it....affordable..GASP.... yes, I mean it.  With all the beautiful places to travel it really isn't inexpensive for people to go to a slice of heaven with a million dollar view, now is it? We had a private chef, Shannon from Chow Bella Catering, come in and deliver us four days worth of meals that was so much food we had two days worth of meals when we came home.  She made us four appetizers, crepes with fresh strawberry compote, salmon and asparagus, chicken in a mustard Dijon sauce and risotto, lasagna that would make Rachel Ray weep and of course a beautiful butter cream birthday cake. Ohhhh, I need to un-button my pants just typing that! Shannon did such an amazing job! Thank you Shannon! For the four days with five people, including food, we each spent $350 total.  Now, that doesn't include the liquor but that was only about $5 a piece....Tee hee.  Now, you can't beat that!  Dennis, who owns this beautiful log cabin of perfection, was so kind and helpful with all of our questions and had stacks of wood for our roaring fireplace.  He has, with his wife, decorated each inch of the cabin with the most unique antiques and cabinesque items that they have collected over the years. There is two fully restored wood canoes hanging from the ceiling, one with Christmas lights meticulously placed to define the outline of the canoe.  He has everything from antique radios to a large model seaplane perched in the upper loft.  Every detail has been seen to with to die for design flare. So, next time you think about getting away, go check out home away.com, look up your little slice of luxury and load up your BFF's for a little communing with nature.  Or if you are near Michigan, call up my friend Dennis and pull up an Adirondack chair and glass of chardonnay and wave at nature for me.
Chin-chin nature!
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a five shining silver spoons...yay Glamping!

Fresh Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15

Once again this is my second disappointment with Fresh first the lemon pledge disguised as a perfume and now the tinted lip balm....gosh what's up with you Fresh? I mean after the Lichee bath cubes did you decided to just give up? This is nothing more than a pretty packaged Burt's Bees coloured lip balm...Sorry Burt..but really that would be fine if it wasn't a whopping $23.62....oh yea crazy huh. Now if you have tried this product and love it than please tell me what makes it so special because truly I want to love Fresh again but for now I think I need to break up with them. So Fresh.." it's not you, it's me. I hope we can be friends someday...stop crying Fresh you'll meet a nice girl one day."
So for my Ask Aimee Review I give it "I'm dumping your ass" zero stars

Dior Vernis Gris Montaigne

This is my first time trying Dior polish and I'm hooked. Now to be honest it's thick and that takes some getting used to but it looks like perfection on your nails and has a pretty good lasting time considering I have natural nails and everything chips after a few days. The colour is to die for and everyone keeps asking what it is!That usually doesn't happen with your average nail polish BUT this isn't average darling it's Dior....
So for my ask Aimee Review I give this a delightful Dior four stars because it's beautiful but it is expensive but a great splurge!

Pro Hair Tinsel

I was watching Oprah the other day and she was interviewing a previous guest and I kept noticing that the woman she was talking to had hair that was kind of sparkly....was it spray on glitter....was it my eyes playing tricks on me....I kept watching and looking but I couldn't figure out what was in her hair dammit..... Then at the end Oprah asked her what was in her hair....thank you Oprah! She said it was her company Hair Flairs. So on my iPad I went and looked it up and discovered that they are thin strands of tinsel that you tie into your hair that come in gold, silver and a whole lot of other colors.....Well, of course, you know it... I ordered the gold and purple ones for my daughter. They are $10 for a package of 100 strands of tinsel... hee hee... it kinda makes me laugh when I say it...Anyway, I have to say, I had problems with them falling out at first until I realized that I needed to knot the hair and the tinsel together or something like that. I guess I'm not as smart as I think I am if I'm outsmarted by hair tinsel, for goodness sake... Damn you, hair tinsel...dramatic pause.....OK.  I did figure it out and my daughter who is on a sports team with purple as their team colours looks so cute with them in her hair! Now I feel I might be pushing it being forty with tinsel in my hair... but I put one gold one in my hair (now that I 'm blond again)....but I think it looks really cool! Or am I just a old chick that thinks she looks cool....mmmm that's the question. Well until some young whipper snapper comes up to me and says "hey cool hair tinsel old lady!" I will just leave it in.
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a sparkling four stars.

Fresh Sugar Lemon - 0.34 oz Eau de Parfum Roll-On

There is really nothing better than seeing the UPS man driving up my driveway.... really he's like my version of Santa Claus! My husband has a fit and I am purely giddy with anticipation, pulling open my package like a six year old on Christmas morning. A package from Sephora.... well, that's just a slice of heaven! So, as I am pulling out my latest buys, I grab my Fresh Lemon Sugar Roll On Perfume that I had bought on a whim... Shocker, I know but remember don't judge me! Now I have really liked some of the Fresh products that I have tried before...the Lychee bath cubes are amazing, by the way..... So needless to say I had nothing but high hopes for this perfume, but as I rolled this new scent over my wrist all I could think was "crap!" I just spent $22 on lemon pledge! and a funky uglier stepsister version of lemon pledge at that! Now it sits in its coffin, I mean box on my dining room table or as I like to refer to it  "The graveyard of NEEDS to be returned".....I  really hate returning stuff... ugh boring!
So if you are interested in smelling like a lemon, save your money and rub some lemon pledge on yourself and you can be Cinderella to the ugly stepsister Sugar Lemon by Fresh....
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a sour smelling zero stars.

Nuddle

Mmmmmm Nuddle...... yes this is the classy version of the Snuggie and it is wonderful! Named Nuddle (Nap + Cuddle = Nuddle) it is crazy expensive, yes BUT how nice this time of year to curl up in front of the tv with a glass of wine, or two...or three...remember, don't judge me... And curl up in the Nuddle and let the snow fall outside. As the web site says "The Nuddle was designed to be the most luxurious, warm, comfortable & functional lounging blanket you will ever own. This double-sided, super-plush blanket was designed with an exclusive foot pocket, outer hand pouch and openings to keep hands free to read, type, snack or just nap!" The only draw back is that it just has slots for your arms and if it's really cold your arms get cold as well. But it feels soooo soft and you don't look like something on a two a.m infomercial. Now I'm not hating on the infomercials cause God knows at three a.m I feel I desperately need the salad shredder and want to cut up some pop cans with a Ginsu knife that very minute, but this is something you don't hide in your closet when guests come over... just saying. I got the latte colour and it washes up really well as I found out after my French bulldog Archie decided to pee on the Nuddle. He probably just wants his own right? It isn't cheap to say the least and as I'm writing this I feel kinda stupid for spending that much on a classy Snuggie...but if you are one of the crafty sewing people out there you could make this for next to nothing and stick out your tongue at me over your craftiness if you are so inclined but with my sewing days far behind me I forked out the $69.99 to nuddle just like Kelly Rutherford of Gossip Girl, Rebecca Romijn, Lauren Conrad and Debra Messing. Yes this could have been a drunk purchase of mine as I do drink and then go on the Internet and decide to shop... NOT a good idea by the way. I do really love my nuddle and if you have the money to spend or are Rebecca Romijn then Nuddle away! Heck buy a Nuddle for all your friends BUT if you are watching your budget then find one of those crafty people and force them to sew you one.
So for the ask Aimee review I give this a comfy 3 stars because it is really nice but way too expensive for a souped up Snuggie.

DiorShow 360 Mascara

I want to start out by saying that I have beauty product sucker written all over me like the wall of a New York subway station sooooo it's no shock that when Dior's new mascara Dior Show 360 came out I was priority shipping mine asap from Sephora. It's not available where I live so that made me want it even more. I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!! I didn't care that it cost $44.00 Noooo it promises to lengthen and curl my lashes like they have never been curled before. It's so high tech that the brush spins with a turn of the button. Oh yes my friends I did say "it SPINS!!!" I was waiting every day at the door looking for my trusted post man to bring me my spinning bottle of eyelash perfection. I had dreams of people being mesmerized by my perfect butterfly like batting lashes. People would stop me and ask..."Were you born with those thick long perfectly curved unbelievably amazing lashes???" OK I know I am getting a little overly dramatic but truly if we believe all the beauty hype which totally does work...after all I did say I was a sucker right? This is a very nice mascara AND having a rotating wand is quite fun and different BUT my lashes aren't any longer than the $10 mascara and I don't have people stopping me entranced by my lush long luxurious lashes. I have always and will always fall for the newest and latest beauty item because I am that person that is pulled in by the pretty packaging and claims to make my skin look like it did when I was twelve. Don't judge me.  It could happen one day when I am cryogenically frozen with Walt Disney maybe.... but if you are by chance a little less gullible than I am then I would pass up this mascara and keep on the look out for the fountain of youth... but don't forget to email me when you find it Pleeaase! Cryogenics isn't my first choice.
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a lash spinning 2.5 Stars. It's way to expensive but it is a nice mascara and if price is not a concern then go for it.

Ddrops The Sun Vitamin

Ddrops are easy easy easy! I am one of those people that my girlfriend Kelly makes fun of because I am avoiding the sun at all costs. The sun causes wrinkles and sun spots you know! She seriously laughs at me when we golf because she is out there soaking up the sun and I am slathering on SPF 90 under my golf umbrella. I do have to say that when I did tan I could stay out in the sun all day with my bottle of oil mixed with iodine (come on all you 1980's people remember that trick ) and get just burnt or a different form of white maybe eggshell? So fast forward a decade plus later and I have learned to embrace my extreme whitness even obsess over it a little bit. SO I obviously don't get a lot of vitamin D ( the sun vitamin) as a result there enters the Ddrops a handy little way to get your D vitamin without all the pill taking effort. You can drop theese easy little drops on the back of your hand and take up to as many D vitamins as your doctor wants you too. It sooo simple you wish everything was this easy. I just put one drop on the back of my hand and lick away and ther is no taste and I have my 1000 iu's of vitamin d faster that you can say it D vitamins. You can buy Ddrops at any pharmacy or vitamin store.
So for my ask Aimee D review I give this a sunny 5 stars!

Kiss Me Mascara

Ohhh kiss me mascara we have been together forever! Yes I am one of the first kiss me mascara devotees. I have always loved loved loved the tube lashes! As their ad says "Kiss Me Mascara. No running, No smudging, No flaking, No clumping, No make-up removers… No Compromise." Pretty convincing huh? Now as I try more and more mascaras I realize that mascara is really a very personal thing. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next. I have always loved kiss me mascara but I would bet there are as many people who didn't find it to be their particular cup of tea. I definitely find that my preferences have changed since using Latisse. My lashes are LONG! Really long! So I don't need a mascara that makes them longer but instead I need something that makes them stand out and look thicker. Latisse has made them longer but not thicker unfortunately. So Kiss Me works perfectly to make me look like I am not wearing any mascara but instead have freakishly long eyelashes.I also like that there isn't a chance to get that mascara smudge under your eye with this mascara but if you do get them wet people will think your eyelashes are falling out  The tubes come off looking like your eyelashes if you didn't know and it could freak people out. Anyway I would always recommend you to give this mascara a try. It is natural looking and I personally love it, so what more do you need... right? If you have short sparse lashes then don't try it but if you have normal lashes this is a great mascara to use during the day that won't make you look like you have that clumpy tranchilla eyelashes YUCK! I really hate that! You can find kiss me mascara at any beauty supply store or on their web site www.sephora.com one of my favourite sites to buy all my goodies because of the samples you get. I love love love samples!
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a lash lengthening 4 stars. It makes your
lashes look naturally long but on the downside it doesn't give you any thickness.

Mystic Tan...yes I did pee!

Well just one of my most embarrassing stories includes a visit to the Mystic Tan and since this is the NEW Mystic Tan HD and the other one is no longer at that location I feel that I can share my embarrassing story with you. But you promise to keep it just between us right? I went many years ago to the Mystic tan (the old one) and thought to myself ..... I don't need to go pee before I go in... "Im good" well.... I got into that damn thing and stood their naked waiting to get sprayed and it was soooo F****** COLD. I mean REALLY cold take your breath away cold. When it sprayed you it was like pure ice water spraying you from head to toe! Well you guessed it I started to pee. I tried with ALL my might to stop but I just couldn't!!!! so as the self tanner is being sprayed over my whole body this pee was dripping down my legs. CRAP!! I thought two things, First: I am mortified and Second: Im OLD yes I am now some old woman who cant hold her pee. Not only am I fat and getting a spray tan to cover up my fatness and cellulite BUT now I cant hold my own bladder. What's next? Depends for Gods sake? Ok well the spray tan was over and I was desperately wiping up my pee dribbles and thought that this was just something that no one will ever know and I will put this whole experience behind me and forget it ever happened. I was tanning for a trip we were taking and the next day I started to notice these stripes along both my legs. Yes I now looked like a spray tanned version of a zebra....I tried to add self tanner around it. I also tried to rub it off but there was no way around it my legs looked like a zebra.
Now I know what you are probably thinking...what Mystic tan was that and I am NEVER going there! but rest assured that Mystic Tan is gone and there is a brand new Mystic Tan HD with a warming spray YES I did say warming spray. So when I went on our last cruise I decided to give it another try. I know after my zebra experience I didn't have much hope but I went to the bathroom and peed my little heart out! The highly tanned man behind the counter assured me that this is the latest and greatest in spray tanning ( well he was very tan so he should know right? ) and with my cellulite butt cruise just a few days ahead I said what the hell. So this is a whole new Mystic Tan experience if I do say so myself. First it talks to you and in an animated voice it told me it is warming the unit...that made me feel better right away! I first put a lot of cream on my nails, hands and feet because it will make you look like you got in a fight with the self tanner bottle if you don't so really lather it on. I also put on a hair net and decided to keep my underwear on minus the bra this time (attractive huh??). I wasn't going to have a repeat of last time if I could under any circumstances help it so I was counting on that underwear! well the first spray came out and it was nice and warm yayy!!! no pee so far so good! So I listened obediently to the voice and put my foot on the numbered pads and turned myself around when told. I also put a piece of paper towel under each foot because the bottom of your feet get orange from the floor. This actually worked really well! After you are finished you just towel yourself off and a day before you shower and wait for your tan. I have to say that this was a really great natural looking tan colour. I picked medium because the "tanned guy" said that the light doesn't event show up and the dark is really dark. I really looked very natural for my whole seven day cruise. I did keep lotion on but other than that I didn't feel the need to apply more tanner throughout my trip.
I know after this post you are probably asking yourself why on earth would she share that embarrassing story with us? Well I now feel that I need to laugh at the crazy things that happen in our life and this was a long time ago.... I mean seriously it was really funny wasn't it? and now you and I can have a good laugh and hopefully next time you have a self tanning peeing zebra striping experience or something just as funny you will share your story and we can have a good laugh and realize not to take life so seriously.
So for my Ask Aimee D review I give this NEW Mystic Tan a pee free 4 Stars because it gives you a great sunless tan but if you don't load a lot of cream on your hands and feet you could look like you got in a fight with Snookie and her bottle of self tanner.

Tory Burch Reva flats

Since I don't live on a private island or own my own yacht I still think its important to wear good accessories that make me look like I live on a private yacht near my own private luxuriously tropical island. I truly believe that you can wear a whole outfit from Joe Fresh or the Gap and just add good quality accessories that make you look like the luxury jettsetting island owning yacht living person that you want to be, or like me, wish you were. Remember???....."Don't judge me
Anyway, they come in a tonne of colours from patent to zebra and every other colour under the sun even rubber for those rainy days! They are the chicest things ever. They were even one of Oprah's favourite things this year so its not like I'm not already preaching to the converted. I found mine on Ebay at half price. I love love love Ebay! They range from $235.00- $195 on her web site ToryBurch.com but I found mine on Ebay for $95 You really have to like that!!! I have both the zebra and the black patent. I also love love love her clutch that matches although I haven't found one on Ebay that I like at the right price yet but I do like the thrill of the hunt!!!
So for my Ask Aimee review I give this a very chic Oprah loving 5 stars!

That's My Pan!

Christmas just passed and like everyone I have a few people who I don't have a clue what to get but I am sooo filled with.... you've done a tonne of stuff for me all year and I need to equal that with a thoughtful Christmas gift . Well this is a GREAT gift for all the people who you want to remind that you put some thought into their gift by personalizing something JUST for them. Thats My Pan! at www.thatsmypan.com is a web site that customizes baking pans with the name of the person on it. Cool HUH? you also add different artwork next to it like spoons, flags, baskets and a whole lot of other stuff. That way when you bring over your grandams old brownie recipe the person doesn't keep your pan AND take credit for your brownies. I think this is a great gift anytime of the year and at $25.95 the original 9x13 pan is one gift that is always a big hit!
So for the Ask Aimee review I give this a freshly baked 5 Stars!
